The Twin's Daughter - beautifully crafted by Lauren Baratz-Logsted, this novel tells the tale of young Lucy Sexton as she travels through her teenage years from the day she first met the mirror image of her mother at the front door to the day she discovered the truth. This enthralling book is tied for first in my Top Three list. (=
Scarlet - in this wonderfully written spin off on the legend Robin Hood by A. C. Gaughen, Scarlet "Scar" poses as another member of Robin Hood's band. But what the Merry Men don't know is that Scarlet had a secret life before joining them. But will she trust them enough to tell them who she really is? This action-packed romance is also tied for first in my Top Three list. :)
Nobody's Princess - Esther Friesner has a great way of retelling Greek mythology, also making you feel as if you were part of the story. Her main character, Helen of Troy, is a spunky girl who isn't like the other girls - she wants to learn how to fight and run. But nothing's stopping her...or is there?
Nobody's Prize - The sequel to Nobody's Princess, Helen of Troy goes on yet another adventure. When her brothers Castor and Polydeuces go join Jason and the Argonauts on the Argo in the quest for the Golden Fleece, Helen transforms herself into a boy and along with her freed slave-friend, Milo, embarks on the journey. But what will happen when she begins to develop feelings for another crew member, gets taken hostage by Theseus, or an attempt is made on her life by the sorceress Medea? And most importantly, what will she do if her brothers every find out her true identity?
Threads and Flames - also written by Esther Friesner. After Raisa recovered from her illness, she immigrated to America in hopes that she could live with her sister again in New York. But finding work and a place to stay is hard - especially when you take a younger girl under your protection and can't find the sister you were looking for. Eventually she meets her true love, finds a place to stay, and gets a job at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. But will her life ever be the same after that dreadful day in March 1911?
